Orlando's First UNICEF PSA!

Orlando Bloom's first Public Service Announcement since becoming a Goodwill Ambassador can finally be seen on the UNICEF website^^...It seems he is focusing mainly on clean water in his career as ambassador. And while I only saw a picture, it is very nice to hear his voice speak about something he cares so deeply about...and he enunciates which is something we don't hear much of in the States. But I hope you enjoy ^^

I have no idea why my computer has been freaking out but I have at least 15 minutes before it goes down...
SOOO..
The people responsible for the burglary of Orlando Bloom and many, many others have been caught...I've read an equal amount of articles claiming 4 people as 5 people..this article claims 6 but tells how the teens responsible may have done it...MSNBC says that they tracked the celebrities' movements using the internet and stole "just for fun"....Now that that has been mostly resolved..
we can move on a bit...
SUNDAY(oct. 25) was Legolas Day so..happy Belated Legolas Day!!
and..
on a fan film note..
Another fan film about the Lord of the Rings is set to be premiered at Ring* Con and then online on December 1st..The movie "Born of Hope" is about the Rangers of the North and their struggles before the War of the Ring... Here is their website..I am looking forward to it although I don't think it looks as convincing as "the Hunt for Gollum"..but hopefully the sound id better..
Hopefully my computer will behave soon...

Appointed Newest UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador!

This just in!! Orlando has been appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for all of the work he has done in Nepal,Russia, and Sarajevo^^

According to this article from Reuters, he was named this morning and will be recording a PSA for UNICEF about the importance of clean drinking water...
He has been working with UNICEF since 2007.

This is great news as we all know how close this is to his heart.

Yes..I know..Orlando is not in the fourth installment (at least he's not going to be a BIG part of it) but he is still a part of the series...It has been announced that "Pirates of the Caribbean"On Stranger Tides" is set for 2011..

Johnny Depp sailed onstage Friday on a pirate ship at the Anaheim Convention Center to help announce the forthcoming installment of Disney's blockbuster film franchise. He was welcomed with a rousing standing ovation.

Depp will reprise his role as Capt. Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," slated for summer of 2011. It's the fourth in a series.

Dressed as Sparrow, Depp staggered around the stage and embraced Walt Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook, who announced the news to about 5,000 fans on hand for the D23 Expo, Disney's answer to Comic-Con.

"Has anyone else witnessed a talking frog?" Depp's Sparrow asked the crowd, who had been treated to a performance by the Muppets moments earlier. "Where has the frog gone?"

Cook noted that it was likely time for some rum.

"Sounds good!" Sparrow predictably replied.

In his presentation of upcoming Disney films, Cook also announced that Depp would play Tonto in an upcoming big-screen adaptation of "The Lone Ranger."

The first all-things-Disney convention runs through Sunday.

It does sound like they got quite a show ^^...

We can all hope for a small cameo in the film ( like I said before..Will Turner rules the sea! He has to show up!!)

It tells about the many segments..this is what it says about Orlando's....

"A segment about a composer struggling with a score and a difficult director starring Orlando Bloom and a disembodied female voice is pure romanticism and is wonderful..."

Good things are good!!!

According to msnbc.com, Joe Francis (founder of "Girls Gone Wild") plans on proving that celebrities have stayed at a home he owns in Mexico in his tax evasion suit. Celebrities he plans to call or name-drop include:
Jennifer Aniston,
Jack Nicholson,
Vince Vaughn
and Orlando Bloom
Francis faces up to 10 years i n prison and is relying on these big names to prove he is innocent.

The Lord of the Rings actor Orlando Bloom is preparing to star opposite Noel Clarke in a new British comedy currently being made about a motley group of runners who come together to compete in the London marathon. The film, called "26.2" (the length, in miles, of the marathon) is being made by Kevin Loader, the producer of "Nowhere Boy" (about the life of John Lennon) and Free Range Films. It is described by Loader as a "commercial comedy and very British film" and its last third will be the actual race. Hopefully, this will not include any heart attacks.

I just hope we get to see it here in the States^^

my computer was down yesterday so I wasn't able to deliver the news of the first poster for 'New York, I Love You!"...really soory about that..but people.com has the poster up...it's very small..but if you look in the lower right hand section of the heart, you will see Orlando..sorry i couldn't find a bigger version :<(
AND... brooklynvegan.com, has a little bit about the Besnard Lakes who will be scoring "Sympathy for Delicious." it's a very short article and not a lot is divulged..but it is about the music for a movie about a DJ and a rock star^^..

Pirates 4 Update!

The rumors have been swirling and they may have finally become true.. "Pirates 4" will be happening, but as countless sources have reported(including The Insider), Orlando will not be returning. He says that "it’s time to bow out because they tied up nicely for his character Will Turner."...while it is sad to see that there will not be any more Will Turner..we can always pray for a little cameo..he is the Lord of the Seas after all^^

Says "There are worse things in the world"

My inbox has been flooded with the story of Orlando's house being burglarized and I finally got an alert today about what he said. From the article on theinsider.com:

"Orlando Bloom is playing down his recent burglary and said there are worse things happening in the world.

The 32-year-old actor, who is currently filming his new movie in New York, was seen outside the property in LA after it was claimed £250,000 worth of stuff had been taken.

However Orlando said: “When you think about the fact that the economy is the way it is, people have lost their homes, their livelihoods, this really isn’t a story.”

One of the Brit actor’s neighbours revealed she was woken up at around 2am on July 16 by a loud noise."

According to multiple sources, Orlando has sold off a date for charity. He went for £9000 or $14,884.15 US dollars..and it all went to the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Sorry it took so long to update again..my computer has been temperamental..

Starting off with good news...
Orlando was in another accident,according to Sify.com , and escaped unharmed!! It took place on Tuesday night when he was rear-ended at a stop light..both he and the other driver are fine..It took place not far from his crash in 2007...

And...
The Guardian has reported that Orlando's costumes from LOTR will be sold for charity. We can also own some other of his personal items like his childhood tennis racket...

Thanks to email updates from Google, I have learned from several sites that John Goodman has joined the cast of "The Cross"!!

Here is one of the sites' articles..

"This is hardly big news, but Andrew Niccol’s The Cross interests me merely on the cast he has lined up alone, and with that in mind any opportunity to mention it is seen as a good thing. This time around it is a small bit of casting news from Variety telling us John Goodman is in advanced talks to join the cast of the sci-fi film which will begin shooting in mid-September in Australia and is scheduled for a May 2010 theatrical release. Goodman joins a cast made up of Orlando Bloom, Vincent Cassel and Olga Kurylenko.

The Cross is set in a border town the film is set in the near future. Bloom plays a man seeking to cross a mysterious border, something no one else has achieved; Cassel will play the sentry who wants to stop him.

Empire Movie News have an exclusive on The Hobbit for the 20th Anniversary edition...

“We’ve decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to Dol Guldur,” says Del Toro.
“We decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie,” adds Jackson. “The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the [LOTR] trilogy.”
So there you go. The second film will not, as had previously been suggested, a film that will bridge the 60-year gap between The Hobbit and the start of Fellowship Of The Ring.

The 20th birthday issue of Empire, on sale next Thursday (23rd April) UK.

Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis will be filming a concert scene for their new film, director Mark Ruffalo's Sympathy for Delicious, and there's an open call for "people of all ages to be there!"
The stars will be on stage performing original music at The Palace in Downtown Los Angeles, Thursday, February 5th at 1pm.

On Thursday starting at 10am, they will be filming a live concert at The Palace Theater in Downtown LA! Apparently, if you show up, you can be in the audience and see Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis and the rest of the band in the film perform songs and scenes from the movie. ALSO, crowd members will be interviewed, as footage for the film, so you may even have a speaking role in the movie before the end of the day.

Soccer Aid 2008

Orlando made an appeal on behalf of UNICEF during the Soccer Aid 2008 Celebrity Charity Soccer Match held at Wembley, London on Sunday.

Every day, 5,000 children around the world die and many more become ill because of diseases spread by unclean water and poor sanitation. Children and their families have no choice but to drink contaminated water from local wells and rivers. Around 13,000 children under the age of five in Nepal died last year due to diarrhoea. Unicef has been doing what it can to supply safe water to families but much more needs to be done.

The Post-Production teaser trailer for New York, I Love You has been released. New York, I Love You is an anthology of shorts from the producers of Paris Je T'aime .

The film boasts several directors -- among them: Natalie Portman. A vast array of actors are included in the 5 minute shorts including Orlando, Christina Ricci, Kevin Bacon and Shia LaBeouf who all tell various stories of life and love in neighbourhoods of NYC.

The film is scheduled to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month with a rumoured release date of 14 February (Valentines Day)...

Orlando To Act In Film On Sarajevo Siege

Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom said on Tuesday he was stepping aside from the big productions that made him a star to work in a film about life in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo during the 1992-95 siege.
The film is based on the book Fools Rush In by American writer and filmmaker Bill Carter who lived in Sarajevo at the height of the siege. It will be directed by Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington and produced by Elliot Lewitt.

"A film is a very specific and personal account of Bill Carter's experience in Sarajevo during the war and we would very much like to make the film here," the star of the Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings told reporters in Sarajevo.

"This is a departure from the very big Hollywood productions," Bloom said after the film's crew met with the Sarajevo Mayor, who promised financial and other support for the film.

"I'm not in fact playing Bill in this movie but I read the script and the very human story at the very core of this film spoke to me very clearly," he added.

In the book, Carter described his life as an aid worker in besieged Sarajevo in 1993-94 and difficulties and joys he shared with local people trying to preserve the sanity during the 43-month-long shelling of the city by the Bosnian Serb forces.

Bloom declined to provide more details about the film but said he hoped the shooting would start at the end of the year.

"Hopefully, we can get this movie to be made at the end of this year. To come here and shoot would be just wonderful," he said.

Carter made documentary Miss Sarajevo, produced by U2's singer Bono and late Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti, after he managed to make the first satellite link between Sarajevo and U2's Zooropa tour in 1993.

Fools Rush In

Rumors abound that Orlando is to co-produce and star in 'Fools Rush In', an adaptation of the book of the same name by Bill Carter.

'When tragedy strikes Bill Carter's life he finds himself drawn to an unlikely place -- Bosnia, in the midst of its civil war. Searching for meaning in the heart of darkness, he manages to find lodging in an abandoned tower block and sets out getting supplies to the starved, besieged citizens of Sarajevo. It is there that Carter emerges from his stupor. Inspired by a community of people working to bring relief to the city, he daringly enlists the help of music group U2 and its lead singer, Bono, who set up satellite links on the band's Zooropa tour that allowed ordinary citizens of Sarajevo to speak unedited and live on 90-foot television screens to thousands of concertgoers worldwide.'

Blooms Pool Their Talents

ORLANDO Bloom, one of Hollywood's biggest stars, strides through the foyer of an Edinburgh church with all the swaggering style of his Pirates of the Caribbean film role.
But a quartet of elderly ladies enjoying tea and scones in the cafe at St George's Church West hardly give him a second glance – it's Edinburgh, it's the Fringe, and they are unaware they are in company of a celebrity.

Bloom, 31, is in town to deliver an acting masterclass to his elder sister Samantha, 32, who is making her Fringe debut.

As Bloom mounts the stage to help Samantha transform herself into the male mindset of Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky in his tale of unrequited love, there is a brief, respectful silence.

Bloom stops Samantha as she acts out a scene where Mayakovsky pricks his finger.

"Don't do it like that, don't suck your finger like that, that's what a woman does. Do it like this" and acts out a quick gnawing mannerism with his finger held at the side of his mouth and in that moment the star quality beams out.

Earlier, Bloom talking about his sister's appearance in A Cloud in Trousers, at the city's Underbelly venue, said: "I've been very fortunate but my sister's had to work very hard to carve out a career.

"It's been quite an undertaking for her and to begin with I marvelled at how it seemed almost like a stream of consciousness.

"Appearing on stage in a theatre rather than a Hollywood film is like using a different sort of muscle for an actor..."

Suddenly the hall is plunged into darkness as lights are tested. Then power is restored.

Bloom, without missing a beat, smiles and continues: "At first I thought Samantha was joking about being on stage alone for 40 minutes I don't know if I could do it, it's a different sort of journey."

Taking a break from the masterclass Samantha said she had no qualms accepting advice from her brother: "He encourages and supports me in everything I do and I like to ask his opinion.

I'd been interested in playing a male role, but rather than playing a tough guy what I discovered was the fragility of men's emotions and the basic instincts we share."

As Orlando Bloom leaves the venue to fly to Sarajevo for filming commitments, a member of the Zawose Family, a group of musicians from Tanzania, appearing at the church venue enquires via co-ordinator and translator Robert Ngoroma, "Who is that guy?"

Told he is a big Hollywood star and quite a heart throb, he responds: "Like Mr Bean?"

It's Edinburgh, it's the Fringe, egos are left at the door.

Orlando Attends Tracey Emin Exhibition

TRACEY EMIN opened her new exhibition in front of a star-studded audience at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh last night (Saturday 2nd August).

Guests included a number of influential artists including Sam Taylor Wood and her partner, Jay Jopling, owner of White Cube Gallery where Emin's work is shown, as well as other celebrities including author Ian Rankin and actor Orlando Bloom who all arrived to view Emin's collection before sitting down to a meal in the museum's grounds.

In an entrance not exactly befitting a movie star, Bloom arrived with Emin's aunt in a black taxi towards the end of the show. Wearing a suit jacket and a pair of jeans, he looked relaxed and was jovial with Emin and the gallery staff.

About 100 guests were expected, but the event was a generally low-key affair and attracted very few members of the public.

Orlando attended Sir Elton John's 10th Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball to Benefit the 'Elton John Aids Foundation' on 26th June in Old Windsor, England.
630 party goers at £3,000 a head enjoyed a dinner of Oscietra caviar, stone black bass and a tranche of chocolates wrapped in gold leaf, music of the Beach Boys and an auction, including among the lots a field trip to Africa with Sir Elton and David Furnish which went for £1 million . An oil painting by Mark Quinn went for £900,000. A private photographic portrait sitting with Mario Testino raised £800,000, £200,000 ahead of a private dinner for six in New York with ex-President Bill Clinton.
In all, the auction raised £10 million for the Elton John Aids Foundation, bringing the total sum raised since the singer started his charity in 1992 to over £60 million.

Actor Orlando Bloom has been named as an honorary Patron of the New Marlowe Theatre campaign, a development project to build a new theatre and centre for the performing arts in the heart of historic Canterbury, a birthplace Bloom shares with dramatist Christopher Marlowe.

The Canterbury-born actor has joined nine other influential founding Patrons – including Joanna Lumley – who are backing the New Marlowe fundraising campaign, which aims to raise £6m of private donations towards the overall project cost of around £24m.

Monday 14th April: Orlando began filming scenes for his segment of 'New York: I Love You' with Christina Ricci. Nothing is still known of the plot apart from it being a short romantic comedy. Orlando Gets Slimed!

Last year, when collecting an Award for 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' Orlando said he 'wished to be considered for the next sliming thing'. At last nights 'Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards' his wish was granted, Orlando was one of the celebrity guests who received the honor of being slimed in front of an audience of screaming youngsters in what turned out to be the longest Slime Time in history.
"It's the whole reason I became an actor, so that I could stand here, at the Kids Choice Awards, and take part in the biggest celebrity sliming in the history of sliming!" shouted an excited Orlando Bloom.
The slime tank was ready to 'goo' as Jack Black and Orlando Bloom rose upward in their slime seats, safety 'seat belts' tightly fastened to ensure they wouldn't escape. After a few staged 'technical hitches' encouragement was needed in the form of 'kid power.
'Slime! Slime! Slime!...' screamed Jack and Orlando as they whipped the entire audience into a frenzy until the green goo was suddenly released in a deluge onto their heads.
I think I'll pass on that wish for a hug from Orlando Bloom at this moment in time!
